Malta and Kuwait have signed an agreement on education, culture and scientific research co-operation, the Ministry of Education said.

The agreement was signed in Kuwait on Monday between the Kuwaiti Minister of Education Dr Imsaed Rashid Al-Haroun and his Maltese counterpart, Dr Louis Galea.

The Maltese delegation also included the University Rector, Professor Roger Ellul Micallef, the non-resident Maltese ambassador to Kuwait, Dr Saviour Gauci (who is based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia) and the first secretary at the embassy, Nader Salem Rizzo.

During his visit to Kuwait, Dr Galea met with a small group of Maltese who are working in Kuwait, including Bishop Francis Micallef, OCD.

Diplomatic relations between Malta and Kuwait were established in 1972.
