SM Cables wins safety certification

SM Cables, manufacturers of low-voltage wiring and flexible and special cables, has achieved much-coveted certification for its product safety and reliability from TUV Rheinland/Berlin-Brandenburg.

The amended Low Voltage Directive, which became mandatory in January 1997, stipulates that electrical items not falling within the scope of other directives must bear the CE marking in accordance with its European Directive.

The certification proves to the end user that SM Cables products are safe, manufactured in accordance with good engineering practice, and has adequate insulation protection against electrocution.

SM Cables products are routinely tested in-house to harmonised European standards and regularly by the British Standards Institution and TUV Rheinland/Berlin-Brandenburg.

TUV Rheinland engineers also carry out inspections and audits at SM Cables' Ricasoli factory. The TUV Certification is a further complement to ISO 9001: 2000 quality management standard employed by SM Cables.
