Inizjamed, in collaboration with the British Council, is holding a series of four workshops in creative writing for women at St James Cavalier in Valletta.
The workshops are seeking to unite the media of poetry and photography.
The photographs, which will provide the "inspirational springboard" for the writing sessions, are self-portraits by controversial British photographer Sarah Lucas.
The participants will be encouraged to discuss the portraits, write down their reactions and eventually to process their writing within the group.
On June 29, the British Council will launch an exhibition of Lucas's photographs at St James Cavalier.
Lucas has achieved a notorious name as the bad girl of Britart. This reputation stems partly from the seemingly aggressive stance that she has adopted in a series of self-portrait photographs produced since 1990.
