The Salesian Pastoral Youth Service is this year's winner of the national award Gharfien Nazzjonali fis-Socjeta, which recognises the voluntary work undertaken by youth groups in society.

The award is organised by the Department of Youth and Sport in conjunction with the Parliamentary Secretariat in the Ministry of Education.

A special recognition award was given to Ghaqda Drama Dwal Godda.

The winners were presented with a trophy and cash prizes of Lm450 and Lm125 respectively.

The other finalists were the Centru taz-Zghazagh Balzan and the Grupp Zghazagh ghal Palermo. They were awarded a cash prize of Lm75. All four finalist organisations were also presented with a certificate.

The parliamentary secretary for youth and sport, Jesmond Mugliett praised the work being done by youth groups through voluntary work and said that other youth groups should be made aware of the considerable work being performed by other organisations.
