The Court of Appeal has confirmed a judgment of the first court in which former Labour Minister Freddie Micallef was awarded Lm900 in damages.

The court, composed of Chief Justice Noel Arrigo, Mr Justice Joseph Filletti and Mr Justice Franco Depasquale confirmed the first court's judgment finding that an article entitled "Alfred Sant ma jinterressahx mill-passat" published in Il-Mument on August 27, 1995 was libellous in Micallef's regard.

The appeal court ordered editor Victor Camilleri to pay Lm900 in libel damages to plaintiff.
