Malta Air Traffic Services said it was prepared to recognise any trade union which could prove it enjoyed the support of the majority of its employees.

The company was referring to the ongoing dispute on recognition involving the GWU and the UHM.

The company said it had referred the matter to the director of industrial relations, but a meeting for the two unions had not had a satisfactory outcome. It had therefore referred the matter to the industrial tribunal.

The company said it had no dispute with either of the unions and it could not understand how the GWU had ordered industrial action when the matter was before the tribunal.
