Representatives of the Campaign for National Independence yesterday had a meeting with President Guido de Marco at the Palace in Valletta, when they presented a letter to him requesting his assistance.
However, CNI requested that the details of the letter would not be made public.
Prof. de Marco said it was important to create a framework of unity and ensure that people with differing opinions were not enemies.
He said the people`s will should be respected, though he stressed that their decision had to be an informed one.
CNI official Remig Sacco said EU membership was a personal, not partisan choice.
He said CNI wanted Malta to retain its status quo and strengthen its constitutional values and social heritage.
