The Labour Party looked upon its local councillors as one of its main resources, Labour leader Alfred Sant said.

"Labour councillors are an integral part of the work which is being done so that the MLP would win the next election," he said.

Dr Sant, who was addressing councillors at the party headquarters in Hamrun, said Labour-led councils were encountering obstacles in the administration of the councils.

In councils where Labour councillors were in a minority, Labour councillors are finding that Nationalist councillors were upgrading zones where residents were known to sympathise with the PN while they neglected other areas, he said.
