The Education Division has appealed to parents to continue sending their children to school until the last day of the scholastic year.

In a statement, the division said it had been informed that a number of students in Year 6 in state primary schools who had sat for the Junior Lyceum entrance examination were no longer attending school.

The division said that although there were no more examinations for these students before the end of the scholastic year, lessons were still being given.

This was an opportune time for the students to enhance their education through cultural visits and educational projects.

Students who did not attend school were breaking the law, the division added.

Steps would be taken where it was found that students were being encouraged not to attend school and where it was found that medical certificates were issued to cover unjustified absences.
