A group of eight athletes from the Traditional Karate Federation of Malta (TKFM) recently attended an international course in Windsor, UK in which over 200 black belts participated.
The group included TKFM black belts and instructors headed by TKFM`s president and chief instructor, Sensei Franco Azzopardi 4th Dan.
TKFM is a union of clubs each led by qualified instructors who are interested in retaining and maintaining the true foundations of karate as studied traditionally in Japanese martial arts (Budo), and who also promote its sport derivative.
TKFM is fully acknowledged by the worldwide authority of Traditional Karate (ITKF). This discipline was officially recognised in 1993 by the International Olympic Committee as distinct from other forms of karate.
