Half a century ago

The Qrendi Scout Group wishes to thank The Times for the May 14 article on Scouting Appointments, published in the "Half a Century ago" column.

In the article, mention was made of the granting of scouting appointments to two of our group`s former scout leaders, the late J. Brincat and P. Axiaq who, together with group scout master Louis Galea and scout master C. Vella, toiled effortlessly in the promotion of the Qrendi group.

Our group is currently in the process of gathering information on our history that dates back to 1934 and have found the Times of Malta together with one of its former staff members, John Mizzi as a most reliable source of information.

Your newspaper has also served as the provider of a wealth of information and photographs of our "bygone days", allowing our current members to appreciate the dedication and efforts of our brother scout leaders.

Without such contributions the collection of information on our past would not have been possible.

Once again the Qrendi scouts thank you for your scouting contributions and support for the Scout Association of Malta.
