Two Class G/H Super Five Championship semi-finals, run over the distance of 2,640 metres, and a Class D race on 2,140 metres, were the main events on the card of the 52nd meeting of the season at Marsa.
G.R. Goldstar, driven by current champion driver Noel Baldacchino, had no trouble at all winning the first semi-final. This trotter crossed the line some two lengths ahead after leading the race from start to finish.
Clodio du Gue, Greta Ossewaard and Bosse Novak qualified for the final in that order.
The other Class G/H semi-final had quite an exciting and close finish, involving three trotters which dashed together along the very last metres of the race.
Julian Farrugia, in the end, managed to thrust favourite Nimble Broline between Lerat Satan and Fiolito to win by less than a head.
Lerat Satan was declared runner-up and Fiolito third. Eardoc was the other trotter to make it to the final.
Charles Degiorgio`s Laughing Adel, which was disqualified last Sunday after crossing the finishing line first, just managed to get the better of strong challenger G.R. Rolle this time around to win the Class D race and gain promotion to Class C.
Galax Boss (Frencu Cassar) and Rybo PS (Joseph Scicluna) were promoted to Class D after winning their respective Class E races yesterday.
Baldacchino was best driver again yesterday with two wins to his credit.
