The European Convention on the Future of Europe was addressed in Maltese for the first time yesterday, when the government`s representative, Rev. Prof. Peter Serracino Inglott, made an intervention.

This was made possible following the recent decision by the presidium of the convention which extended the opportunity to members of the convention to talk in their own language even though they came from non-EU countries.

Europe, Prof. Serracino Inglott said, should not be a superstate, neither a community (xirka) of governments, but a network for communication at different levels.
