Tom Carier of Luxembourg made it two wins in a row yesterday, claiming first place in the Triathlon Championships of the Small States of Europe held along the Bahar ic-Caghaq coastroad.

Carier, the 2001 race winner, finished the event (1,500m-swim, 40km-cycle and a 10km-run) in one hour, 57 minutes and 25 seconds.

Malta`s Dermot Galea placed second in 2:01.07, less than four minutes adrift of the winner and 29 seconds ahead of third-placed Bruno Fiore from Monaco.

The ladies` competition had two Maltese triathletes obtaining podium positions. Maria Mifsud Bonnici (2:16.37) and Marylynn Bezzina (2:20.52) finished second and third respectively in the race won by Jackie Komes of Luxembourg who clocked two hours 13 minutes and 46 seconds.
