Malta`s Frans Pace yesterday took charge of the BoV Malta International Grand Prix after the second 50 clays from the 125+25 trap competition were shot at the Bidnija ranges.

Pace, who on Friday was trailing leader Giuseppe Andretti by one clay, was the most consistent shooter of the day to finish on top with a total of 93 clays. Andretti, an Italian national team member, and Joe Attard are in second place, one point adrift.

Three Maltese shooters, Stephen Vella, Aldo Falzon and John Marmara, are currently occupying the fourth spot after hitting a total of 91.

Eighty-one shooters are taking part in the competition. Overseas competitors, which number 36, hail from Italy, England, Wales and Norway.

Yesterday there were straights from Marmara and Welshman Michael Wixey. The competition continues today and will come to a close this afternoon with the final barrage.
