A young man is on the danger list and three other men were injured, two of them seriously, in three traffic accidents.
Andrew Gauci, 25, of St Paul`s Bay, is in critical condition after the Mitsubishi he was driving at Bahar ic-Caghaq on Friday night was involved in a crash with a Nissan driven by David Caruana, 37, of San Gwann. Caruana was seriously injured, but is not in danger.
The accident happened at about 11.40 p.m. in St Andrew`s Road.
The two cars were extensively damaged. Members of the Civil Protection Department were called to the accident site to free the two drivers from the cars. Neither of them had passengers.
Magistrate Joseph Cassar was informed about the accident and appointed a team of court experts, including traffic expert Dr Yana Micallef Stafrace and Joe Zammit, mechanical expert, to help in the inquiry.
Inspector Denis Theuma is investigating.
Two motorcyclists were injured in two separate but closely linked traffic accidents in the same spot just outside the Kirkop tunnels yesterday at about 1.40 p.m.
The police said that a Honda 1000, driven by a 38-year-old man from Xemxija, skidded as it left the tunnel sending its rider crashing to the ground.
The police added that at that moment another motorcycle, driven by a 30-year-old man from Msida, had also emerged from under the tunnel.
The second motorcyclist tried to avoid the machine and its rider which had just crashed, but he lost control and also fell to the ground.
The two injured men were taken to hospital. While the motorcyclist from Xemxija was only slightly injured, the other motorcyclist had his right shoulder dislocated.
The police are investigating.
