Has anyone ever heard of an examination paper which does not make it crystal clear how many questions the examinees are expected to answer?

This is exactly what took place with the MATSEC Computer Studies Paper 2A of May 10.

The paper had eight questions, each of 17 marks. Those who assumed that the examination was based on a total of 85 marks answered five questions. Those who assumed otherwise must have answered, more or less, depending on their assessment at that moment.

God help all those poor students who took the wrong decision. All they needed was a bit of professionalism on the part of the examiner.
