Just over half of the earth movers of the Works Division are to be equipped with the Datatrak system along with 36 per cent of the division`s vans and 76 per cent of its trucks, Infrastructure Minister Francis Zammit Dimech said in parliament.

Replying to a parliamentary question by Mr Charles Buhagiar (MLP), the minister said the choice of vehicles which would be equipped with the system was based on the vehicles which covered most distances or consumed most fuel.

Mr Buhagiar also asked why the system was not being installed on all vehicles.

Dr Zammit Dimech said that as the system was developed, a decision would be taken on whether it should be extended.
