Pianist Maki Yagi will perform at St James Cavalier`s Music Room in Valletta on Saturday, sponsored by Valletta Fund Management. This is her second piano recital in Malta following her first successful performance last December.
The programme will include works by Haydn, Schumann, Alan Berg, C. Frank and Debussy.
Maki started playing the piano at three and at six was already a student at the Yamaha Professional Music School, studying composition, improvisation and solfege.
Following her graduation from Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music, she proceeded to Budapest for three years to specialise in piano playing at the Liszt Ferenc Academy under the tutorship of Istvan Lentos, Gabor Eckhardt and Balazs Szokolay.
She is finalising her teaching practice at Fransina Abela Brincat Piano School working mostly with advanced students.
