Accused of posing as police

Two brothers were yesterday charged with posing as CID police officers at the Westin Dragonara grounds.

Lawrence Caruana, 26, and his brother Adonis, 24, of Sliema, pleaded not guilty to posing as police officers on February 16 at about 3.30 a.m.

The prosecution claims the two brothers were in a car and had a beacon light similar to one used by the police on the roof of their car. They told girls passing by they were CID police officers carrying out an investigation.

Police inspector Martin Sammut prosecuted.

Dr Joanne Vella Cuschieri and Dr Ian Farrugia appeared for the Caruana brothers.
