Vodafone Malta has launched a new concept in mobile communication, unified messaging. This new pilot project will offer Vodafone`s contract customers the ability to access Vodafone`s voice-mail, fax and e-mail via the Internet from a PC.

The main advantage of the service is it provides a single point for mail retrieval (voice, e-mail and fax). With unified messaging, customers can log in to their Vodafone mailbox from one central Web page (http://mail.vodafone.com.mt), and manage any messages deposited - regardless of the message type.

"By using both their mobile phones and the Internet, this new system will revolutionise the way in which Vodafone`s contract customers keep in touch," Joseph C. Grioli, managing director at Vodafone Malta Ltd, said. "They will now be able to take advantage of the great benefits and flexibility of centralised communication for both business and private use."

Users will be able to read e-mail, listen to/save voice mail, and read/print/save incoming faxes. "This service amounts to a far more efficient way of `keeping in touch` for Vodafone Malta customers, and is another `first` for Malta - a further illustration of the unsurpassed value that Vodafone offers its customers," Mr Grioli continued.

The service is designed for further future expansion and is available on a free trial basis to all Vodafone contract customers as from this week for the duration of the pilot project.

Vodafone to Vodafone calls at 5c today

All local calls made by Vodafone customers to any other Vodafone number today, Mother`s Day, will be charged at 5c a minute, a 7c per minute discount, Vodafone Malta said last week.

Both Vodafone e-talk and contract customers will benefit from the special Mother`s Day offer.

"Mother`s Day is an important occasion for all of us and on this day Vodafone is enabling its customers to contact their loved ones at a remarkably cheap rate," Mr Grioli said. "This offer reflects Vodafone`s continuing endeavour to serve its customers while providing the best mobile telephony service across the Maltese Islands."

To be able to start using the unified messaging service, and for more information, customers can call Vodafone`s Customer Care Centre on 247 from their Vodafone or 2148-2820 from any other number.
