Over the past fortnight, Mike Roberts was visiting Malta from the UK to explore the possibility of holding a national sales and marketing awards event.
Mr Roberts, a recipient of the lifetime achievement award in the 1998 UK awards, said in a statement he was delighted with the initial response he has received. He has received endorsements from the Voice of the Mediterranean, the Malta Marketing Institute, the Chamber of Commerce and The Sunday Times.
The UK Awards, the biggest in the world, attract 1,700 entries in over 30 categories and have now spread to Ireland and the United States. In 2003 they will be launched in 24 European countries through the European Marketing Confederation and Malta winners would automatically go forward to the European awards.
Before leaving, Mr Roberts told The Sunday Times that the `key` will be identifying a sales and marketing-oriented organisation in Malta, with the logistics and infrastructure willing to organise the event on the island.
