German tour operator FTI Frosch Touristik yesterday said it offered the largest flight capacities to Malta in the German market, and was working with airline partners Air Berlin, Air Malta and Condor.
FTI was reacting in a press release to what it said were incorrect reports which stated that it had collapsed and pulled out of Malta.
The tour operator, which operates from 10 airports with several flights a week, said it was the market leader for Malta.
"Having a huge number of variations of airports and durations of stay for holiday-planning is extremely important to the German guest. This is the overall reason for enlarging our flight programme," CEO Georg Eisenreich said.
"We specially focus Malta in our programmes, it is the only destination presented in a separate brochure. Malta always enjoyed a very important role for our tour operating business. We will hold on to our position and further strengthen the market-leadership in the future."
FTI said that in the past months it had made a lot of changes in both its charter and modular programmes, to establish a full range of quality products.
"There is much potential in these islands with popular summer holidays, cultural trips, holidays in farmhouses or learning English," said Mr Eisenreich.
With its subsidiary LAL Sprachreisen, FTI is a market leader for language courses in Germany, while it is a shareholder in the largest TEFL school in Malta, I.E.L.S.
Founded in 1983 as a specialist for Malta, Gozo and Comino, today FTI offers holidays all over the world. It is fully owned by My Travel plc, one of the the largest tourism groups in Europe with a turnover of 8.2 billion euros last year.
