1,265 crime reports last month
270 thefts from cars
The police last month handled 1,265 crime reports of which 761 involved theft, 277 involved damage and 111 involved attempted offences, Home Affairs Minister Tonio Borg told Dr Gavin Gulia (MLP) in reply to a parliamentary question yesterday.
He said there were three cases "against morals and honour of the family", 10 cases of arson, 55 cases of bodily harm, eight drug cases, seven cases of fraud and eight cases of illegal immigration.
There were also four prostitution cases, one sexual offence, 13 cases of threats and private violence and seven cases of violence against public officers.
The minister said the 761 theft cases included 270 thefts from cars, 62 from bars and hotels, 62 car thefts, 58 from shops and 56 from residences. There were 33 pick pocketing cases, five robberies, seven thefts from boats and one theft of a boat.
The minister said there were seven thefts from factories and eight from beaches. There were also 192 "other cases."
