Police at the Hamrun police station just could not turn their backs on a helpless dark brown puppy which wandered near the station yesterday afternoon.

They took it inside and are feeding it.

Suspecting that the puppy might have been abandoned, a police officer on duty has invited anyone interested in adopting the puppy to call for it at the station.

"We cannot keep it for long, and if no one takes it we have to hand it over to the dogs` home," the officer said.
