First edition of MTA Fireworks Festival

The first edition of the Malta Fireworks Festival, one of the most spectacular events Malta has even seen, is sure to delight locals and visitors to the Maltese Islands alike.

The festival will be held at the Grand Harbour on Friday and Saturday evening and will serve as a preview of fireworks let off during the Maltese festa season later in the year.

The festival is being organised by the Product Planning and Development Directorate of the Malta Tourism Authority. Through the Maltese Pyrotechnical Association, 12 fireworks factories are to participate in this year`s festival. The area around Lascaris Wharf will be the main venue from which the land, sea and aerial fireworks displays may be enjoyed.

Musical and dance entertainment will also be part of the festival. There will also be a show incorporating various kinds of seacraft on Friday from 7-9 p.m. The festival will culminate in a spectacle which will see fireworks synchronised to music on Saturday from 9.30-10.30 p.m.

There will be a breathtaking display of ground fireworks and aerial fireworks will be let off.
