The Gill Foundation Day Regatta was held recently in heavy weather conditions at St Paul`s Bay.

In the Optimist fleet, Zak Borg placed first, Benjie Borg second and Jan Rossi third. In the Laser fleet, first place went to Peter Valentino followed by Mario Aquilina and Simon Paris.

Races for the Novices Optimist class, under the supervision of coach Andre Rosignaud, were held on a separate weekend due to strong winds. Richard Apap Bologna placed first in this category, followed by Liz Apap Bologna and William Camilleri, second and third respectively.

The overall winner of the Gill Foundation Day Regatta was Borg, while Valentino and Aquilina won the overall Laser class on a tie.

Captain Benny Grech and Jovin Rausi ran the bridge and coaches Jean-Paul Fleri Soler and Rosignaud organised the races, sponsored by Gill, for the Malta Young Sailors club.
