Judicial letter over turkeys

Dowty Automotive (Malta) Ltd yesterday filed a judicial letter in the Magistrates` Court holding Crown Cold Stores Ltd liable in damages.

Dowty claimed it had bought a number of turkeys from Crown Cold Stores last December in order to distribute them among employees. However, 630 of the turkeys were past their best-before date as they had an expiry date of January 2001 and were therefore expired by 12 months. These turkeys had to be recalled from the company`s employees and returned to Crown Cold Stores.

Dowty claimed it had sustained damages as a result of Crown Cold Stores` actions and it called upon the company to meet for the liquidation of damages within one week.

Dr Veronica W. Galea Debono signed the judicial letter.
