The inflation rate of 3.6 per cent was the highest such rate since 1996, despite the Finance Minister`s claim that the rate was under control, the Labour Party`s spokesmen for social affairs, Karl Chircop and Marie Louise Coleiro said.

The unemployment rate was increasing despite claims by the Social Policy Minister that new jobs were being created. Unemployment now stood at 10,000, the Labour spokesmen said.
