Bank of Valletta has launched a new card payments system which involves the integration of card payments into the merchant`s point of sale system.
And as part of the bank`s drive to continue to modernise its card payment systems, BoV is branding its card acceptance network as "BOV Accept".
Combining the latest technology in software and ADSL or cable communications, this system eliminates the need for an EPOS terminal, a dial-up connection for each transaction, eliminates the need to re-enter the amount of the transaction and reduces the overall cost per transaction.
To use BOV Accept, merchants must operate a Point of Sale system that is compatible with this new system. Merchants will no longer need to use Electronic Point of Sale terminals but will simply have installed a card reader that is connected to their Point of Sale System. A number of pilot systems have already been installed and are yielding excellent results.
