The Armed Forces`s Maritime Squadron has conducted `Exercise Gaudos 02`, a joint cross training exercise with Royal Navy personnel with HMS Norfolk while the warship was in harbour recently.

A boarding team from the Norfolk and 2nd Regiment`s Maritime Squadron Rapid Deployment Team (RDT) performed a combined maritime interdiction exercise with the collaboration of Gozo Channel Co. at Sa Maison jetty.

The training scenario saw the mv Cittadella playing the role of an impeded vessel trying to leave a Maltese harbour without permission.

The exercise aim was to have both British and Maltese teams attempt to take control of the vessel by seaward boarding and apprehending those on board.

The AFM`s RDT was responsible for providing security by establishing a secure environment aboard so as to enable the RN boarding team to board and conduct a search of the vessel.
