Obituary

GALEA. On April 22, JOE (Marvic), aged 56, passed peacefully away, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife Carmen née Gatt, his daughter Lara and her fiancé Colin, his son Justin, his mother Salvina, his brother Victor and his family, his wife`s brothers, sisters and their families, his aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral took place yesterday.

ZARB. On April 24, VALENTINO, aged 91, of Balzan residing at Birkirkara, widower of Carmela née Grech, passed peacefully away comforted by the rites of the Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Frank and his wife Mary, Agnes and her husband Maurice Borg, Mona and her husband Pacifico (Chico) Sammut and Lilian and her husband Lino Galea, his grandchildren Hubert, Ethan, Kenneth, Darren, Dunstan, Natasha, Rachel and Gerald and their spouses, his great-grandchildren, his sisters Annunziata of Australia, Maria of UK and Connie; other relatives and friends. - R.I.P.
The funeral leaves St Luke`s Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for Balzan parish church where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment at the parish cemetery in Balzan. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siggiewi, will be greatly appreciated.
May God grant him eternal rest.

Funeral

The funeral of MICHAEL GELBHAUER who passed away on April 22 will take place at sea, leaving from AFM Base, Sa Maison, today at 2 p.m. Due to limited boat capacity, those wishing to attend may meet at the quayside for their farewells.

Competition Winner

Lorna Bonnici from Kirkop has won a Sony Handycam in the Pampers Baby Club Competition held in March and organised by MPS Ltd, marketing consultants for Pampers in Malta.

The competition involved writing a slogan for Pampers Nappies.

The Pampers Baby Club was set up by BIC Ltd, a member of the VJ Salomone Group of Companies, and distributors for Pampers Nappies in Malta.

Trading Licences

Applications for trading licences may be collected from any local council in Malta and Gozo, and can be submitted as from May 2.

The parliamentary secretariat in the Economic Services Ministry said the Maltese interpretation of a press release about the licences may have given the impression that May 2 was the deadline for applications, but actually that is the date as from when the Trading Licence Unit will accept applications.

Power Cuts

There will be power cuts for maintenance purposes today from 7.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Gzira in Parisio and il-Kurunell Savona streets, and in parts of ix-Xatt, Sir Frederick Ponsonby, il-Flotta, Sir Charles Cameron, Henry F. Mass will be said by Fr John Wilson for members of the Anglican (C of E) community in Gozo in the Chapel of the Sacred Heart Seminary, Enrico Mizzi Street, Victoria on May 1 at 11 a.m. All are welcome.

The lists are valid for a period of three months from tomorrow.

Centre of Marian Spirituality

The Maltese Carmelite Province is inaugurating a Centre of Marian Spirituality at the order`s house in Lunzjata, Rabat, which will be used to host seminars and conferences. It will be inaugurated on May 31, and a weekend conference will then be held there presided by Fr Alex Vella.

T.K. McClintock, the visiting American expert paper conservator from Boston, Massachusetts, is giving a public lecture entitled "The Conservation of 18th and 19th Century Historic Wallpapers and Murals on Paper" at the Malta Centre for Restoration at Bighi near Kalkara tomorrow at 6.30 p.m.
