Jailed, fined for heroin possession

A Senglea man was yesterday jailed for two months and fined Lm100 for heroin possession and theft after a magistrate ruled he had ignored opportunities to reform.

Frankie Pace, 22, pleaded guilty to drug possession, the theft of two car stereos and relapsing in Pietà on December 9, 2000.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera noted Pace`s guilty plea, his full cooperation with the police and that he had returned the two car stereos to their owners.

But she also noted his criminal record which showed he had previously been found guilty of theft and given a suspended sentence or put on probation.

Magistrate Scerri Herrera ruled that once Pace did not learn from chances granted to him, imprisonment was appropriate.

Police Inspector David Saliba prosecuted.
