Cisco Systems is in discussions with Melita Cable Data Services on the setting up of a demonstration site for the region for Cisco MPLS (Multi Protocol Label Switching) VPNs (Virtual Private Networks).

The new Cisco MPLS VPNs technology is currently being used by Melita Cable Data Services to offer wide area network data services in Malta and Gozo via their EuroDOCSIS cable modem infrastructure.

Melita Cable Data Services was recently appointed a member of the Cisco Powered Network, joining the top one per cent of service providers worldwide whose network is certified as Cisco Powered Network.
