Low floor Solaris buses, represented locally by Exalco Holdings Ltd, have been approved by the Malta Transport Authority, Exalco said in a statement.

The first Solaris bus for Malta is now under production in Poland and delivery is expected in August. Further orders are being negotiated with other bus owners.

The buses are made in accordance with stringent European standards and would have all the features found on Solaris buses being sold in Europe, Exalco said.

They would be able operate efficiently in narrow streets and crowded shopping city centres with low fuel consumption and low operating costs.

Other features include 45 passenger seats, access for the disabled, large windows, good ventilation all around the bus and various optional extras.
