It was comforting to read the article on Malta`s backing of a protocol against the death penalty (March 20).
Such enlightenment and respect for human life will hopefully spread to other parts of the civilised world.
It would be commendable to see the protocol extended to other life forms, especially our feathered friends, whose crime of flying over or stopping on the islands for a rest or drink is still punishable by death or life imprisonment.
